Request: An internship in the field of interpreting
Friday 15 December 2006

Hello,

My name is Valérie Millart. I am a French student in Applied Languages and I begin to learn the French Sign Language (including English, German and Chinese) for some months with the French association URAPEDA.

Next semester I have to do an internship abroad, and I am actually looking for a training course in an interpreting company or association of twelve weeks at the very least. I expect this internship will make me discover all the facets an interpreting work could have, from sign language to spoken language at first. This internship would enable me to gain the knowledge that is necessary in translation and interpreting, so that I am highly motivated to provide a good job and to share my skills. I can begin the internship from February 2007.

See the attached files with more detailed information.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Valérie Millart

No Barriers No Borders - Mixed-Ability Projects
Tuesday 24 October 2006

Information from IFHOHYP – SALTO-YOUTH

"No Barriers No Borders" is a practical booklet about setting up international mixed-ability projects, where young people with and without a disability have a meaningful and fun experience together.

IFHOHYP (by Karina Chupina) made a contribution to this booklet.

Download it here for free! (Right click the link & Save the file to your computer)

There are approximately 15% of people with a disability in Europe. So we could ask ourselves if also 15% of our friends have a disability, or 15% of our colleagues at work, or 15% of the young persons in our youth organisation.

No Barriers, No Borders is a practical booklet aiming to stimulate the participation of young people with a disability in international youth projects. It is not about setting up specific projects for people with a disability, but it promotes International Mixed-Ability projects, in which young people with and without a disability live, work and have fun together as peers.

No Barriers, No Borders helps mainstream youth workers and project organisers to think more inclusively and to involve young people with disabilities in their international projects. The booklet gives lots of practical tips and tricks to make a Mixed-Ability Project a positive and mind-changing experience for all involved.

If you are a youth worker (mainly) working with young people with disabilities, this booklet wants to challenge you to involve young people without disabilities in your activities. Because social inclusion is about creating opportunities for pleasant and respectful contact and cooperation. And an international mixed-ability youth project does just that!

Important: IFHOHYP seeks its representative in the Advisory Council on Youth, Council of Europe!
Tuesday 12 September 2006

Information from IFHOHYP - the Board

Dear All,

As you know, since this year IFHOHYP is represented in the Advisory Council on Youth of the Council of Europe. This is a very important structure that makes an impact on the youth policy-making in Europe as well as on the overall agenda of the Council of Europe Youth Sector and its other Directorates.

This is the first time ever that IFHOHYP is represented in the AC. It is a big success for IFHOHYP that gives start to important lobbying work for next years. When Vanessa Migliosi, former IFHOHYP President, was representing European Disability Forum in the Advisory Council, in cooperation with IFHOHYP Board she lobbied for Disability theme to be on the agenda of the Council of Europe large event “Europe, Youth and Globalization”. Lobbying was a success; Disability workshop held at this Event was one of the most popular workshops ever and largely contributed to awareness-raising about young people with disabilities.

Johan Bijleveld was an IFHOHYP representative in AC since 2006 but had to leave due to his increased job commitments.

Therefore, we are urgently looking for the new IFHOHYP representative in AC.

Project about deaf children
Monday 12 June 2006

Information from Ioana Drugas

Hello!

My name is Ioana Drugas and I am teacher at a special school. I am from Romania, Oradea.

Our school has children with associate handicap and deaf children. My class is made by deaf children and I have 3 years experience at the deaf children. Our school is the only one which has deaf children in all our district.

We had some projects in Comenius Programme. But because we want to transform our school in a center of deaf children (but children with associate handicap) we want to start some projects with some schools for deaf children. This school project wants to help us in teaching deaf children and we want to develop our knowledge. We want also to exchange our experience with another schools.

So, this is my question: Is there some school who want to start this project with us?

I am looking forward to get some answers from you,
Ioana drugas_ioana@yahoo.com

Sign the petition of UNAPEDA
Friday 26 May 2006

Information from UNAPEDA unapeda@wanadoo.fr

DEAF STUDENTS : sign the petition of UNAPEDA for the continuity of the existing services IN FRANCE

Since 1993, AGEFIPH, The French National Association who is in charge to manage the funds of insertion in the world of work for the handicapped people, financed the accompaniment of the deaf students : Sign Language interpreters, Cued Speech coders, takers of notes, orthoepy, ......

Since january 2005, a new law has been voted to compensate for the handicap. Whereas this law is not applied yet, the AGEFIPH decided without concertation not to finance this accompaniment more, considering that all this was henceforth field of National Education.

Consequently AGEFIPH stops the financings from June 30, 2006, without no solution of relay being found.

The services of support do not have any more the financings nécesaires with their operation and are brought to lay off their personnel.

The large losers are the deaf students who will not have any more accompaniment for their studies

More info on this website of UNAPEDA

The documents for the Annual General Meeting
Thursday 16 March 2006

Information from IFHOHYP - The Board

Dear all,

Please have a look in the attached documents for the Annual General Meeting in Tampere: The Board sincerely apologises for the delay of the documents. The financial and annual report must be sent together, and the delay was mainly caused by the change of the IFHOHYP bank account (from the bank account in Italy to the bank account in Belgium): in order to prepare the financial report for 2005 and look back into the IFHOHYP balance & reports 2003 and 2004, IFHOHYP had to receive by post all documents for previous bank operations in Italy as well as all documents from the previous temporary treasurer - all this had taken a lot of time. The documents from Italy arrived a little more than a week ago. IFHOHYP Treasurer had prepared the report for 2005 and will also present the report for 2004 next week.

Furthermore, in the last two weeks part of the Board members and an auditor had to work hard on preparing the IFHOHYP study session in order to meet the rules and preparation deadlines of the Council of Europe (study session is approaching!).

Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to see those of you who are coming to the IFHOHYP AGM!

Kind regards,
IFHOHYP Board
